We are Richard De Haven and Chuck Balgenorth.  We are both from California.  We have been researching and involved with Network Marketing for the last seven years.  In this time, we have experienced what we are sure you have too – that many people are unhappy with their present circumstances, they dream of making a positive change in their lives, they want control over their lives and their futures, they want time freedom, they want financial security – or at least more money, and, thus, they are attracted to the idea of owning their own home business.  Like us, you know that MLM can provide these benefits. 

So why don’t more people take advantage of MLM opportunities?  Why is it that many of those who do get into MLM don’t work it to get the advantages it offers?  In our experience, the answer to these questions appears to boil down to this – most people can’t relate to themselves as someone who could be successful in MLM.  Why?  Because most of them have never been shown what success can look like for them specifically.  Oh, sure, if they have ever talked to an MLM’er or attended an opportunity meeting, they have seen the “hype” surrounding MLM – that is, how much money can be made in a short time and how simple it is to build an MLM business that makes a lot of money.  But, just because a person can see what is possible from a compensation plan does not necessarily mean that they can see themselves achieving that possibility.  As human beings, we are, unfortunately, driven by fear; and, fear of the unknown drives us away from the unknown.  When we can’t relate to something, we tend to dismiss or avoid it.  With MLM businesses – to non-MLM’ers – there are a lot of unknowns: what type of commitment leads to what type of results, how is it done effectively, can it be done part time, how long will it really take, what skills will I really need, is it hard work, and the list goes on.
